This year’s springtime program by the Center for Old Music features music of the Baroque period. A dozen singers plus continuo players John Hedger (guitar), Dwight Newton (viola da gamba), and Donna Boyd (harpsichord). Featured soloists include Jenny Brock, Sarah Marks, Meg Stohlman, and Loren Tice, joined by guests Clif Cason (organ), Kim Heersche (oboe), Jeff Womack (dulcian and bassoon), and special guest Bob Reynierson performing on archlute, theorbo, and Baroque guitar.

The centerpiece of the concert will be J.S. Bach's motet, Jesu, Meine Freude. Other works by Bach, Purcell, Caccini, Sanz, Leonarda, Bertoli, and Kapsberger will also be performed.

The Center for Old Music produces concerts by the Lexington early music performing ensemble Musick's Company. The Center also maintains a library of performance scores and parts and has, over the years, produced concerts by other artists and has been active in education activities. We also have a singer/players registry for connecting people in central Kentucky who are interested in playing early music. Our Old Music News newsletter archive will give you a taste of some of our recent activities.
